The Cellular Connection (TCC) is committed to not only providing our customers/employees with a great experience but also committed to giving back to our communities.   POSTION PURPOSE   As a member of the Business Intelligence team, the BI Data Architect will be responsible for translating requirements into a complete enterprise information platform. The primary function of the Information Architect/Data Modeler position is to provide architectural guidance, technological recommendations and transition strategies that support the development and implementation of data warehousing, data vault, and data mart development and analytical reporting initiatives. The desired candidate will be responsible for the data model design and metadata repository approach for the enterprise information solution. The candidate will work closely with the other members of the BI team to analyze data requirements, design logical and physical models, evolve models to meet new and changing business requirements and develop processes for capturing and maintaining metadata from all data solution components.   Focus is on the development of an end to end information architecture and strategy, playing a key role on projects by providing the appropriate data architecture solutions and ensuring alignment with the overall data management strategies in support of business initiatives.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   
  • Responsible for the architecture of the BI data environment, its design, performance, availability, and success
  • Share/define best practices and implementation plans
  • Develop and maintain data model, designed to scale as business evolves and grows
  • Maintain formal description of the data and data structures (includes data definitions, data models, data flow diagrams)
  • Develop, document and maintain data model related standards
  • Ensure quality, consistency and security of database design, and ability to meet global requirements
  • Ensure that the BI implementations follow industry defined best practices, common standards and procedures
  • Determine conceptual designs, logical databases, external data interface specifications, data loading plans, data maintenance plans and data security policies
  • Translate business and data requirements into technical terms, propose and recommend technical solutions
  • Participate in data sourcing analysis, data mapping, documenting requirements, setting up recurring data loads and testing
  • Catalog and curate our information solution across the enterprise by developing an enterprise data catalog for use by analysts. Developers, and Business Partner Power Users
  • Review and approve database change requests to safeguard the databases and data integrity
  • Understand the corporate business and appropriately prioritize activities to best serve business needs.
  • Responsible for assuring metadata accuracy and validity, establishes methods and procedures for tracking data integrity and quality, completeness, redundancy, and improvement
  • Provide data thought leadership to architectural reviews
  • Develops a strategy to classify data for its most effective and efficient use to ensure data integrity and consistency
  • Defines master data structures for the organization, participates in efforts to standardize data management for business processes, develops and maintains conceptual / logical / physical data models, and participates in data warehouse design and implementation
  • Identifies and develops opportunities for data reuse, migration, archiving, integration between systems and obsolescence
  • Effectively communicate architectural plans, priorities, and requirements based on thorough analysis and documentation gathered through a structured methodology
  • Assist in planning and maintenance of the physical technical infrastructure, including configuration, performance, and storage requirements, with consideration of tiered data and data archiving
  • The Data Architect will create schemas, data types, primary & foreign keys, default values, and maintain metadata for the data models. In addition, the Data Architect will work closely with the Database Administrator to define table spaces, partitions, etc. and to ensure that the physical data model meets performance requirements for the database.
  • Assists developers with performance issues
  • Ability to effectively diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex problems pertaining to data infrastructure.
  • Ability to evaluate and make recommendations regarding data integrity.
  • Leads reviews of logical and physical data models
  • Mentors less experienced team members
  • Keep abreast of developments in the wider scope of Information Technology as well as in the specifics of data science, AI, modeling, data management, analytics, and business intelligence
  REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.   EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in IT, at least 5 years working as an architect in a complex data warehouse or data vault environment required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in Oracle environment
  • B.S. in Computer Science or Information Systems, or 4 year degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • In-depth understanding and working experience of Data Warehousing/Data modeling methodologies required
  • Conceptual, logical and physical data modeling experience
  • Experience in database design in support of business initiatives requiring reporting and analytics
  • Experience as a development team member on a team using SCRUM Agile Methodology.
  • Proven experience developing a data infrastructure with structured management of master data, metadata, data quality, data governance, data structure, data architecture, and data security.
  • Advanced development capabilities in Oracle BI.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise repository tools, data modeling tools, data vault, data mapping tools and data profiling tools. Have proven ability to communicate well verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization from the senior leadership team to the individual contributors.
  • Ability to think strategically and relate architectural decisions/recommendations to business needs
  • Strong collaborative and analytic skills to work with business stakeholders to drive requirements for solutions
  • Be self-motivated and highly organized with good time management skills.
